Skate parks are often the heart and soul of young communities in urban areas, and up until recently I lived right beside one. I was inspired by the idea of what type of communication would appeal to this demographic, so I created a pitch
for the local Skate Club appealing for new members.
Graffiti as an artistic expression struck me as the best medium, as immediately associated with the skate world and appealing to teenagers. I researched some styles and settled on using stencils, cutting these out and then playing with different spray techniques. I scanned the results before adjusting in Photoshop.
The orange and blue palette is young and fresh, and I chose to layout the text in a comic book style to further appeal to the target demographic. I chose to create flyers and stickers that could be applied around the area to spread the word.
